Fill Valve: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire and 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the fill valve through the fill door assembly.
  2. Loosely install the mounting nut.
  3. Tighten the fill valve retaining nut (1) while holding the fill valve using a wrench (4). Tighten the fill valve retaining nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Connect the fill line (3) to the fill valve (5) with a new "O" ring face seal. Lubricate the "O" ring with petroleum jelly, or equivalent. Tighten the fill line fitting to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Connect the negative battery cable. Tighten the bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  6. Connect the HPL harness connector.
  7. Start the engine. Check for CNG fuel leaks at each serviced fitting using the Combustible Gas Detector (J 45878), or equivalent.
  8. Slip the boot over the fill valve fitting. Tighten the fill valve boot clamp to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  9. Install the left carpet and the cargo net.
  10. Install the trunk trim panel.
  11. Connect the negative battery cable. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
