Removal & Installation: Transaxle: Installation

  1. Install the PNP switch.
  2. Install the shifter cable bracket. See Figure .
  3. Install the lower transaxle-to-engine stud. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  4. Install the transaxle mount.
  5. Position the transaxle in the vehicle.
  6. Install the lower transaxle-to-engine bolts and nuts. See Figure . Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  7. Connect the transaxle cooler pipes to the transaxle. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  8. Install the torque converter-to-flywheel bolts. See Figure . Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  9. Install the drive shafts to the transaxle. See appropriate AXLE SHAFTS article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
  10. Connect the wiring harness to the VSS.
  11. Install the starter. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  12. Install the battery cable to the starter and the nut. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  13. Install the starter wire and the nut to the starter solenoid. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  14. Install the flywheel inspection cover. See Figure .
  15. Lower the vehicle.
  16. Use the engine support fixture to raise the engine and transaxle assembly.
  17. Install the transaxle mount-to-body bolts. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  18. Raise the vehicle.
  19. Install the frame replacement in frame and underbody.
  20. Install the transaxle-to-engine brace bolts. See Figure . Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  21. Install the left front fender liner. See Figure . Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  22. Install the front wheel and tire assembly lug nuts. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  23. Lower the vehicle.
  24. Install the upper transaxle-to-engine bolts and stud. See Figure . Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  25. Install the engine wiring harness grounds to the transaxle to engine mount stud and nut. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  26. Remove the engine support fixture.
  27. Connect the electrical connectors to the PNP switch and transaxle.
  28. Install the shift linkage to the transaxle. See Figure .
  29. Connect the air duct hose to the intake plenum.
  30. Connect the negative battery cable. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  31. Inspect the transaxle fluid level. See appropriate SERVICING article as follows:
