Ignition Switch: Removal

NOTE: For more information on removing and installing the ignition switch, see appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  1. Disable the SIR system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article.
  2. Remove trim covers from the steering column.
  3. Disconnect the ignition switch harness connector (1). See Fig 1 .
  4. Remove the 2 screws (8)(9) and the ignition switch (7). See Fig 1 .
