Removal (1500 Series With 4-Wheel Steering)

  1. Release the park brake.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  4. Relieve the tension from the park brake cable by pulling down on the intermediate cable then release the cable from the equalizer bar. See Figure.
  5. Remove the rear park brake bracket bolt. See Figure.
  6. Remove the park brake cable from the park brake actuator lever. See Figure.
  7. Remove the wheel bearing. See REAR WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in the 9.75" RING GEAR - QUADRASTEER article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
  8. Remove the park brake shoe.
  9. Remove the park brake actuator lever housing from the backing plate.
  10. Remove the backing plate.
