Test T: Malfunction Indicator Light Always On: Testing

- If engine controls diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If engine controls diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to ENGINE CONTROLS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) harness connectors. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If MIL is illuminated, go to next step. If MIL is not illuminated, go to step 5 .
- Remove Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). Check for short to ground in Brown/White wire between PCM harness connector C2 terminal No. 48 and IPC harness connector terminal A2. See Figure and Figure . If Brown/White wire is okay, go to next step. If Brown/White wire is not okay, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 6 .
- Replace IPC. After repair, go to step 6 .
- Replace PCM. Program as necessary. See PROGRAMMING . After repair, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify fault no longer exists. If fault still exists, go to step 2 .
