Manual Selector: Removal

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Perform the following procedures to remove the center instrument trim panel:
    1. Using a taped flat bladed tool, gently pry and release the retaining clips which secure the I/P accessory center trim plate (1) to the instrument panel assembly. See Fig 1 .
    2. Disconnect the A/C switch electrical connector, the hazard warning switch electrical connector, the rear defogger switch electrical connector, and the passenger seat belt indicator electrical connector.
  3. Perform the following procedures to remove the instrument compartment:
    1. Open the instrument panel compartment door.
    2. Remove the screw (3). See Fig 2 .
    3. Compress each side of the I/P compartment, until the upper tabs (1) release.
    4. Remove the I/P compartment (2) by pulling out to disengage lower tabs (4).
  4. Perform the following procedures to remove the front floor console:
    1. Remove the center A/C control knob (3) and screw (1). See Fig 3 .
    2. Using a taped flat bladed tool, gently pry and release the retaining clips which secure the front floor console trim plate (2) to the front floor console assembly.
    3. Disconnect the 2 cigar lighter electrical connectors and the accessory power receptacle electrical connectors.
  5. Push in the retaining clip, then disconnect the cable from the shifter assembly. See Fig 4 .
  6. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the park lock cable from the bracket. See Fig 5 .
  7. Disconnect the shift select cable from the manual selector lever. See Fig 6 .
  8. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the shift select cable from the shift lever plate. See Fig 7 .
  9. Disconnect the electrical connectors, then the wire harness clip. See Fig 8 .
  10. Remove the 4 nuts, then the manual selector from the vehicle. See Fig 9 .
