Test A: Anti-Lock Light Does Not Illuminate - No DTCS: Diagnosis

  1. Perform Diagnostic System Check. If diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If not, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 10-pin EBCM harness connector. Using a fused jumper wire, with a 3 amp fuse, jumper terminal "B" of 10-pin harness connector to ground. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If ANTI-LOCK indicator light does not illuminate, go to next step. If ABS indicator light does light up, go to step  4.
  3. Inspect jumper wire fuse. If fuse is blown, go to step  10. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  4. Inspect 10-amp GAUGE fuse. If fuse is blown, go to next step. If fuse is okay, go to step  6.
  5. Turn ignition off. Replace fuse. Disconnect the instrument cluster harness connector from the instrument cluster. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Remove and inspect GAUGE fuse. If fuse is blown, go to step  13. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  6. Remove and inspect ANTI-LOCK indicator light bulb. If bulb is okay, go to next step. If bulb is faulty, go to step  11.
  7. Turn the ignition to OFF. Measure the resistance between the 10-way EBCM connector terminal B and the instrument cluster terminal A1. If the resistance measurement is not within 0-2 ohms, go to step  12. If the resistance is within 0-2 ohms, go to next step.
  8. Turn the ignition to the RUN position. Measure the voltage between the instrument cluster terminal B17 and ground. If the voltage is equal or greater than 10V, go to DIAGNOSIS in appropriate GAUGES & INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article. If the voltage is less than 10V go to step  12.
  9. Inspect the 10-way ECBM harness connector for poor terminal contact or corrosion. Inspect for damage which may result in an open circuit. Reconnect all the connectors. Test drive the vehicle above 10 mph (16 km/h). If the ABS indicator lamp is constantly off, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. Of the ABS indicator lamp is not constantly off, go to TEST B: ANTI-LOCK LIGHT IS ON AT ALL TIMES - NO DTCS  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  10. Repair short to voltage in ANTI-LOCK indicator light circuit between EBCM and instrument cluster. Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  11. Replace ANTI-LOCK indicator light bulb. Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  12. Repair open in circuit between fuse block and instrument cluster, or ANTI-LOCK indicator light control circuit between instrument cluster and EBCM. Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  13. Repair short to ground in brake warning light control circuit between fuse block and Instrument cluster. Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
