Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, open the hood to disable the Auto-Stop function.
  2. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool hood position parameter displays Open.
    • If the hood position does not display Open, refer to DTC P254F .
  3. Ignition OFF, remove the fuse that supplies B+ to terminal X2-56 of the ECM.
  4. Disconnect the FTP Sensor harness connector.
  5. Test for less than 5 Ω between the low reference circuit terminal E and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit/connections test normal, replace the ECM.
  6. Install the fuse that supplies B+ to terminal X2-56 of the ECM.
  7. Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 V between the 5-volt reference circuit terminal C and ground.
    • If less than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuit/connections test normal, replace the ECM.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit/connections test normal, replace the ECM.
  8. Observe the scan tool FTP sensor parameter. Verify that the FTP Sensor parameter is less than 4.8 V
    • If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit/connections test normal, replace the ECM.
  9. Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal B and the 5-volt reference circuit terminal C. Verify that the scan tool FTP Sensor parameter is greater than 4.8 V.
    • If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit/connections test normal, replace the ECM.
  10. If all circuits/connections test normal, test or replace the FTP sensor.
