  1. Ignition OFF, open the hood to disable the Auto-Stop function.
  2. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool hood position parameter displays Open.
    • If the hood position does not display Open, refer to DTC P254F .
  3. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate KS.
  4. Ignition ON, test for 2-3 V between the signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuits/connections test normal, replace the ECM.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuits/connections test normal, replace the ECM.
  5. Test for 2-3 V between the low reference circuit terminal 2 and ground.
    • If less than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuits/connections test normal, replace the ECM.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuits/connections test normal, replace the ECM.
  6. If all circuits/connections test normal, test or replace the KS sensor.
