Circuit/System Testing

- Ignition OFF, open the hood to disable the Auto-Stop function.
- Ignition ON, verify the scan tool hood position parameter displays Open.
- If the hood position does not display Open, refer to DTC P254F .
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate HO2S.
- Ignition ON, test for 2.5-3.5 V between the reference voltage circuit terminal 6 and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the reference voltage circuit for a short to ground, or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- If greater than the specified range, test the reference voltage circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- Test for 2-3 V between the low reference circuit terminal 2 and ground
- If less than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- Test for 2-3 V between the pump current circuit terminal 5 and ground
- If less than the specified range, test the pump current circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- If greater than the specified range, test the pump current circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- Test for 2-3 V between the input pump current circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the input pump circuit for a short to ground, or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- If greater than the specified range, test the input pump circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- Verify that the following conditions do not exist:
- Lean fuel injectors-Refer to Fuel Injector Solenoid Coil Test .
- Incorrect fuel system pressure-Refer to Fuel System Diagnosis .
- Fuel that is contaminated-Refer to Alcohol/Contaminants-in-Fuel Diagnosis (with Special Tool) or Alcohol/Contaminants-in-Fuel Diagnosis (without Special Tool) .
- Exhaust leaks near the HO2S
- Engine vacuum leaks
- If you find any of the above conditions, repair as necessary.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the HO2S.
