Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Use the following list to identify the appropriate terminals to test:
- Battery 1 Temperature Sensor Terminals 3 and 4
- Battery 2 Temperature Sensor Terminals 5 and 6
- Battery 3 Temperature Sensor Terminals 7 and 8
- Battery 4 Temperature Sensor Terminals 13 and 14
- Battery 5 Temperature Sensor Terminals 15 and 16
- Battery 6 Temperature Sensor Terminals 17 and 18
NOTE:
In order to avoid damaging BECM X1 and X2 connector terminals, the proper test probes should be used. The proper test probes are as follows:
- J-35616-65B for female terminals
- J-35616-64B for male terminals
NOTE:
The following test must be performed when the battery pack has equalized at room temperature. An increase or decrease in temperature will cause resistance to change and may result in invalid test results.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect harness connector X1 from the BECM. Refer to Hybrid Battery Service Disconnect/Connect
- Test for 10.5-11.5k ohms between the applicable temperature sensor circuit terminals.
- If not within the specified range, disconnect the applicable temperature sensor from the wiring harness and test the wiring harness for a short to ground, open/high resistance and the two circuits shorted to each other. If the harness circuits do not test normal replace the wiring harness.
- If the harness circuits test normal, replace the applicable temperature sensor.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the BECM.
