Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Relieve the high side fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief (with CH 48027-100) or Fuel Pressure Relief (w/o CH 48027-100) .
  2. Remove the drive motor generator power inverter module. Refer to Drive Motor Generator Power Inverter Module Removal and Installation
  3. NOTE: The fuel injectors have an alignment feature, note the position of the injectors alignment for installation.
  4. Remove the fuel injection fuel rail assembly. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 1  or Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 2 .

  6. Remove and discard the three fuel injector retaining rings (1).

  8. Remove the direct fuel injectors and harness (1) as an assembly, and disconnect the electrical connector (2). If necessary, use the J 2619-01  with the J-37281-A  in order to remove the direct fuel injectors evenly. See Special Tools .

  10. Remove and discard the following components from the fuel injectors (4).
    • Upper O-ring Seal (1)
    • Plastic Spacer (2)
    • Retaining Ring (3)
    • Isolator Cup (5)
    • Teflon Seal (6)
  11. Inspect the fuel rail injector bores and clean with J 39313  , and EN-47909  , if required. See Special Tools .
