Torque Dampener Removal

1 Lock Pin
WARNING: Lock pin must be secured into the bench fixture to hold the transmission and prevent bodily injury.
WARNING: Handle with care, the transmission assembly weighs over 183 Kg (403 lbs). Bodily injury could occur if not handled properly.

Tip:  Ensure the J 3289-20 holding fixture is mounted to a bench that is properly supported and will support the weight of the transmission assembly without tipping. J-39890 adapter and an engine stand can be used as an alternative method for supporting the transmission during repairs.

  • J 3289-20:  Holding Fixture Base Assembly
  • J-39890:  Transmission Holding Fixture Adapter

3 Automatic Transmission Torque Dampener Assembly
CAUTION: Only install the lift assist handles until it stops. Do not tighten. Over tightening the lift assist handles can cause damage to the torque dampener housing.
CAUTION: Failure to raise the torque dampener assembly straight up could damage the torque dampener clutch lip seal inside the torque dampener clutch assembly.
