Shift Cable: Removal

  1. Remove the throttle body air inlet duct.
  2. Remove the shift cable from the wiring harness clip or strap.
  3. Remove the shift cable from the park/neutral position switch. See Fig 1 .
  4. Remove the shift cable from the shift cable bracket. See Fig 2 .
  5. Remove the front floor console. See appropriate SHIFT INTERLOCK SYSTEMS article.
  6. Pull the carpet back to expose the shift cable.
  7. Remove the shift cable from retaining clip(s) or retainer(s) in the passenger compartment.
  8. Remove the shift cable retainer from the console shift control.
  9. Remove the shift cable from the console shift control bracket.
  10. Remove the shift cable from the shift control lever.
  11. Remove the shift cable through the hole in the dash. See Fig 3 .
