Circuit/System Description
The hybrid drive motor generator battery contains 2 high voltage contactors that allow the high voltage (HV) DC batteries to be connected to the vehicle. The 2 HV contactors are a positive HV contactor, negative HV contactor and the current limit relay, also called the precharge relay. The HV contactors, open the high voltage battery negative and positive circuits and isolate the hybrid battery voltage from the rest of the vehicle. These devices close and open in sequence controlled by the drive motor generator battery control module. The control circuit for these devices use a switched ground from the drive motor generator battery control module to turn them on and off individually, and the drive motor generator battery control module also provides voltage.
The hybrid drive motor generator battery is cooled using a coolant cooler assembly also referred to as the thermal management system (TMS). The drive motor battery coolant pump and the drive motor battery coolant fan are located inside the hybrid drive motor generator battery assembly. The drive motor generator battery control module controls the supply voltage to the pump and fan.
