Circuit/System Testing

Always perform the High Voltage Disabling procedure prior to servicing any High Voltage component or connection. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.
The High Voltage Disabling procedure will perform the following tasks:
Failure to follow the procedures exactly as written may result in serious injury or death.
The High Voltage Disabling procedure will perform the following tasks:
- Identify how to disable high voltage.
- Identify how to test for the presence of high voltage.
- Identify condition under which high voltage is always present and personal protection equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.
Failure to follow the procedures exactly as written may result in serious injury or death.
- Verify that DTCs P0A8D, P0A8E or P0A1F is not set.
- If any of the DTCs are set, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle .
- Ignition OFF, test for greater than 12.5 V at room temperature at the 12 V battery terminals.
- If not within the specified range, refer to Battery Inspection/Test .
- Start the engine and turn all accessories off.
- Monitor the scan tool APM 12 V current parameter. Load test the 12 V battery at 175 A. The voltage parameter should display between 12.5-15.5 V.
- If not within specified value, replace the APM.
- Monitor the scan tool Control Module Voltage Signal parameter. The voltage parameter should display between 12.5-15.5 V.
- If less than the specified range, test the ignition circuit terminal 19 X1 for an open/high resistance. If the circuits tests normal, replace the drive motor generator battery control module.
- If greater than the specified range, replace the drive motor generator battery control module.
