Installation Procedure

  1. Apply sealer to the keyway of the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
  2. Place the crankshaft balancer into position over the key in the crankshaft.
  3. CAUTION: Do NOT use a power-assisted tool with the special tool in order to remove or install this component. You cannot properly control the alignment of this component using a power-assisted tool, and this can damage the component.
  4. Thread the J 29113  into the crankshaft. See Special Tools .
  5. Rotate the hex nut on the J 29113  in order to install the crankshaft balancer onto the crankshaft. See Special Tools .
  6. Remove the J 29113  from the crankshaft. See Special Tools .

  8. Install the crankshaft balancer washer and the bolt.
  9. CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  10. Install the used crankshaft balancer bolt and tighten to 125 N.m (92 lb ft).
  11. Remove the used crankshaft balancer bolt.
  12. Install the NEW crankshaft balancer bolt.
    • Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt a first pass to 125 N.m (92 lb ft).
    • Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt a final pass to 130 degrees using the J 45059  .
  13. Remove the J 37096  from the flywheel. See Special Tools .
  14. Install the torque converter covers.
  15. Install the right engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement .
  16. Install the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  17. Lower the vehicle.
  18. Raise the engine using the engine support fixture.
  19. Install the engine mount. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement 
  20. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
