Camshaft Timing Chain and Sprocket Cleaning and Inspection

    WARNING: Bodily injury may occur if the cleaning solvent is inhaled or exposed to the skin.
  1. Clean all components with cleaning solvent.
  2. Dry the components with compressed air.
  3. Inspect the timing chain for binding or wear.

  5. Inspect the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets for:
    • Worn teeth (1)
    • Broken teeth (2)
    • Chipped teeth (3)

  7. Inspect the timing chain tensioner (1) and timing chain tensioner slides (2) for excessive wear or cracks. Repair or replace as required.
