Camshaft Removal

  1. Remove the camshaft position sensor bolt.
  2. Remove the camshaft position sensor.

  4. Remove the camshaft thrust plate screws.
  5. Remove the camshaft thrust plate.

    CAUTION: All camshaft journals are the same diameter, so care must be used in removing or installing the camshaft to avoid damage to the camshaft bearings.
  7. Complete the following steps in order to remove the camshaft.
    1. Install a camshaft sprocket bolt into the camshaft. Tighten finger tight only.
    2. Carefully rotate and remove the camshaft from the engine block.
