Camshaft Installation

  1. Coat the camshaft journals with clean engine oil.
  2. Coat the camshaft lobes with prelube GM P/N 12345501 (Canadian P/N 992704) or the equivalent.
  3. Install the camshaft using the following procedure:
    1. Install a camshaft sprocket bolt into the camshaft. Tighten finger tight only.
    2. Carefully rotate the camshaft while installing the camshaft into the camshaft bearings.

  5. Install the camshaft thrust plate.
  6. CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  7. Install the camshaft thrust plate screws and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  9. Install the camshaft position sensor.
  10. Install the camshaft position sensor bolt and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
