Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Position the steering gear in the vehicle through the left wheelhouse opening. Ensure the steering gear bushings are centered in the frame.
- Install the steering gear bolts (1) and tighten to 110 N.m (81 lb ft).
- Connect the steering shaft coupling to the steering gear.
- Install a NEW steering shaft coupling bolt (1) and tighten to 34 N.m (25 lb ft).
- Install the rear transmission mount.
- Install the 3 rear transmission mount bolts (1) and tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Install the rear transmission mount through bolt and tighten to 110 N.m (81 lb ft).
- Connect the stabilizer shaft links to the stabilizer shaft. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
- Use the J-44015: installer in order to seat the steering linkage outer tie rods. Tighten the J-44015: installer to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).
- Install the NEW steering linkage outer tie rod nuts (1) and tighten to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Tighten the steering linkage outer tie rod nuts an additional 90 degrees.
- Install the front tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Measure and adjust the front toe. Refer to Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment .

NOTE:
Hand start the steering gear bolts before finalizing any torques.
