Installation Procedure

Tools Required

  1. Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
  2. Replace 2 strut bolts with studs GM P/N 11519137 on right and left sides of the vehicle for installation of support fixture.

  4. Install the J-28467-13  (1) and J 28467-5A front support assembly (2) to the top of the left and right strut tower.
  5. Install the J 28467-518 main support beam (3) transversely across the vehicle between both J 28467-5A front support assemblies.
  6. Insert safety pins (4) through the J 28467-5A front support assemblies (2) and the main support beam (3) to prevent movement.

  8. Remove air conditioning line bracket (1) from cross bar beam.

  10. Position a J 36462-A engine support adapter leg with J 28467-4A front support leg assembly next to the front engine lift bracket.
  11. Install a J 28467-1A cross bracket (2) to secure the engine support adapter leg to the transverse mounted main support beam.

  13. Insert a J 28467-7A lift hook through a J 28467-6A bracket and install a J 28467-34 wing nut.

  15. Install the lift hook and bracket assembly (1) to the longitudinal front support leg assembly (2).

  17. Position the J 28467-7A lift hook to the front engine lift bracket (2).
  18. Tighten the J 28467-34 wing nut (1) until all free slack is removed from the J 28467-7A bolt hook.

  20. Position a J 28467-2A engine support fixture bar with J 28467-4A front support leg assembly next to the rear engine lift bracket.
  21. Install a J 28467-1A cross bracket to secure the engine support adapter leg to the transverse mounted main support beam.

  23. Insert a J 28467-7A lift hook through a J 28467-6A bracket and install a J 28467-34 wing nut.

  25. Install the lift hook and bracket assembly (1) to the longitudinal mounted front support leg assembly (2).

  27. Position the J 28467-7A bolt hook (1) to the rear engine lift bracket.
  28. Tighten the J 28467-34 wing nut (2) until all free slack is removed from the J 28467-7A lift hook (1).
  29. Evenly tighten both wing nuts until the engine weight is supported by the engine support fixture and no longer carried by the engine mounts.
  30. After removing the engine support fixture, replace the temporary strut studs with the original strut bolts.
