Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver information center (DIC) switch.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 ohm between the low reference circuit terminal 2 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition OFF, test for less than 5 ohms between the ground circuit terminal 5 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  4. Ignition ON, test for B+ between the switch signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the IPC.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the IPC.
  5. Ignition ON, verify a test lamp illuminates between the signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the IPC.
  6. Ignition ON, test for B+ between the DIC select switch signal circuit terminal 3 and the ground circuit terminal 5.
    • If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the IPC.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the IPC.
  7. Ignition ON, verify a test lamp illuminates between the DIC select switch signal circuit terminal 3 and the ground circuit terminal 5.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the IPC.
  8. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the DIC switch.
