Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the key in ignition switch.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal listed below and ground:
- B+ Terminal 3 (LE5)
- B+ Terminal 2 (- LE5)
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the ignition switch fuse is open, test the signal circuit terminal listed below for a short to ground.
- Signal Terminal 5 (LE5)
- Signal Terminal 4 (- LE5)
- Verify the BCM scan tool Key In Ignition Status parameter is Key Out.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal listed below for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- Signal Terminal 5 (LE5)
- Signal Terminal 4 (- LE5)
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal listed below for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- Install a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the key in ignition switch signal circuit terminal and the B+ circuit terminal terminal listed below. Verify the BCM scan tool Key In Ignition Cylinder Switch parameter is Key In.
- B+ Terminal 3 (LE5)
- B+ Terminal 2 (- LE5)
- Signal Terminal 5 (LE5)
- Signal Terminal 4 (- LE5)
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the ignition switch.
