Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the key in ignition switch.
  2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal listed below and ground:
    • B+ Terminal 3 (LE5)
    • B+ Terminal 2 (- LE5)
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the ignition switch fuse is open, test the signal circuit terminal listed below for a short to ground.
      • Signal Terminal 5 (LE5)
      • Signal Terminal 4 (- LE5)
  3. Verify the BCM scan tool Key In Ignition Status parameter is Key Out.
    • If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal listed below for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
      • Signal Terminal 5 (LE5)
      • Signal Terminal 4 (- LE5)
  4. Install a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the key in ignition switch signal circuit terminal and the B+ circuit terminal terminal listed below. Verify the BCM scan tool Key In Ignition Cylinder Switch parameter is Key In.
    • B+ Terminal 3 (LE5)
    • B+ Terminal 2 (- LE5)
    • Signal Terminal 5 (LE5)
    • Signal Terminal 4 (- LE5)
    • If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
  5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the ignition switch.
