Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LAT, LE5)

Preliminary Procedures Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (With HP5) or Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (Without HP5) . Disconnect the hybrid system. Refer to Hybrid Battery Service Disconnect/Connect Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (LE5) or Drive Belt Replacement (LAT) . Remove the belt tensior. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement (LE5) or Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement (LAT) Remove the generator starter (LAT Engine). Refer to Generator with Starter Replacement Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle . Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector. Remove compressor hose assembly. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LZ4) or Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LAT) or Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LY7) or Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LE5) .
1	A/C Compressor Bolt (Qty: 3) CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution . TIP: Tighten the A/C compressor mounting bolts in sequence shown in graphic. Reposition the CRFM if necessary. Tighten: 22 N.m (16 lb ft)
2	A/C Compressor Assembly Procedure Use a low viscosity, poly-alkylene glycol (PAG) oil. Use of the incorrect oil can result in compressor failure. When replacing the A/C compressor, balance the compressor oil. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Oil Balancing (With HP5) or Air Conditioning Compressor Oil Balancing (Without HP5) . Using J 39400 leak test A/C compressor fittings. Special Tools: J 39400 Electronic Halogen Leak Detector

Remove compressor hose assembly. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LZ4) or Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LAT) or Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LY7) or Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LE5) .

A/C Compressor Bolt (Qty: 3)

CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

TIP:

Tighten the A/C compressor mounting bolts in sequence shown in graphic.
Reposition the CRFM if necessary.

Tighten: 22 N.m (16 lb ft)

A/C Compressor Assembly

Procedure

Use a low viscosity, poly-alkylene glycol (PAG) oil. Use of the incorrect oil can result in compressor failure.
When replacing the A/C compressor, balance the compressor oil. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Oil Balancing (With HP5) or Air Conditioning Compressor Oil Balancing (Without HP5) .
Using J 39400 leak test A/C compressor fittings.
