Circuit/System Testing

IMPORTANT: The seat belt buckle switch is not serviced separately. The seat belt buckle with the seat belt buckle switch must be serviced as a complete unit. When removing connectors, inspect for damage or corrosion. Damage or corrosion in the following requires repair or replacement of the affected component/connector:
  • SDM module
  • Seat belt buckle switch wiring harness connector
  • Seat belt buckle switch
  • SDM wiring harness connector
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the seat belt switch.
  2. Test for less than 1.0 ohm between the low reference terminal A and ground.
    • If greater than specified, test the low reference circuit for open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the SDM.
  3. Ignition ON, test for 1.0-1.6 volts between the signal circuit terminal B and ground.
    • If less that the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the SDM.
    • If greater that the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the SDM.
  4. If all circuits test normal, replace the seat belt buckle.
