    IMPORTANT: The inspections below are to be used as a basic functional test of the transfer case assembly. Complete disassembly and inspection of the internal components may be required to identify worn bearings, a worn gear set or other internal damage.
  1. Use the SA9179NE  in order to measure the output shaft/input gear backlash.

    Specification:  0.06-0.16 mm (0.0024-0.0063 in)

  3. Secure the case in a bench vise with soft jaws.
  4. Measure the output shaft/input gear rotating torque.

    Specification:  3.20-4.16 mm (28.2-34.3 lb in)

  5. If the measurements are not within specifications, replace the transfer case as required.
