Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the valve rocker arms. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Shaft Replacement .
  2. Remove the spark plug. Refer to Spark Plug Replacement .
  3. Install the SA9127E  and apply air pressure to the cylinder in order to keep the valve from dropping into the cylinder.
  4. Using an appropriately sized deep socket and a plastic hammer, lightly tap on the valve spring retainer to loosen the valve keepers.

    CAUTION: Refer to Compressed Valve Spring Caution .
  6. Compress the valve spring with the EN 46335  . See Special Tools .

  8. Use the magnetic end of the J 43059  in order to remove the valve keepers (1). See Special Tools .
  9. Remove the EN 46335  . See Special Tools .
  10. Remove the valve spring retainer (2).

  12. Remove the valve spring.

  14. Remove the valve seal using the SA9102E-A  . See Special Tools .
