Installation Procedure

  1. Clean the oil pan and engine block sealing surfaces.
  2. Apply sealant evenly to the oil pan mating surface of the engine block. Refer to Sealers, Adhesives, and Lubricants  for the correct part number.
  3. Install the oil pan to the engine.
    4. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  4. Install the oil pan bolts.

    Tighten

    • Tighten the bolts, a first pass to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
    • Tighten the bolts, a second pass to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
  5. Install the rear engine cover.
  6. Install the crossunder exhaust pipe brace.
  7. Install the crossunder exhaust pipe. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement (3.5L (L66)) .
  8. Refill the engine with oil and adjust the oil level.
  9. Start the vehicle and inspect for oil leaks.
