Installation Procedure

  1. Lubricate the camshaft journals and bores with clean engine oil.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  3. Install the camshaft, NEW O-ring, cap, and bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).

  4. Install a new camshaft seal. Refer to Camshaft Oil Seal Replacement .

  6. Install the rocker arm and shaft assembly. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Shaft Replacement .
  7. Install the left camshaft drive sprocket. Refer to Camshaft Drive Sprocket Replacement - Left Side .
  8. Install the left rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Left Side .
  9. Install the EGR valve. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Replacement .
  10. Install the upper radiator hose.
  11. Fill the radiator with engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (Static Fill) or Draining and Filling Cooling System (GE 47716 Fill) .
  12. Install the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement (3.5L (L66)) .
  13. Install the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement (2.2L (L61) and 3.5L (L66))
