Camshaft Installation - Left Side

Tools Required

  1. Lubricate the camshaft journals and bores with clean engine oil.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the camshaft (209), NEW O-ring (210), cap (211) and bolts (212).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).

  5. Use the EN 46334  in order to install the seal (223) into the cylinder head. See Special Tools . Rotate the bolt clockwise until the tool bottoms in the cylinder head bore.

  7. Install the camshaft position (CMP) sensor (700) and bolt (723).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 4 N.m (35 lb in).

  9. Install the cover (244), NEW seal (243) and bolts (242).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).

  10. Install the sprocket (241) and bolt (240).

  12. Use the EN 46337  in order to retain the camshaft sprocket. See Special Tools .

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 90 N.m (67 lb ft).

  14. Rotate the camshaft to align the number 1 cylinder top dead center (TDC) mark on the sprocket (2) with the pointer on the rear cover (1).
