Installation Procedure

    IMPORTANT: Failure to transfer the pre-scribed marks may result in an off-center steering wheel.
  1. If a new intermediate shaft is being installed, transfer the pre-scribed alignment marks on to the new part.
  2. Install the intermediate steering shaft assembly from inside the vehicle.
    3. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

  3. Align and connect the intermediate steering shaft to the steering gear and install a new lower intermediate shaft pinch bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 34 N.m (25 lb ft).

  4. Align the pre-scribed mark on the intermediate steering shaft to the pre-scribed mark on the steering column.

  5. Connect the intermediate steering shaft to the steering column and install the pinch bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 34 N.m (25 lb ft).

  6. Seat the intermediate shaft seal into the body panel.
  7. Install the instrument panel left insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  8. Lower the vehicle.
