Tire Pressure Sensor: Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 10 other vehicles, including the 1996 Chevrolet Corvette, 1995 Chevrolet Corvette, 1994 Chevrolet Corvette, 1993 Chevrolet Corvette, and 1992 Chevrolet Corvette. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: When tire pressure sensor must be replaced, always use one having the exact same part number and color code. See TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR SPECIFICATIONS  table.
  1. Install sensor assembly onto wheel. See Fig 1. Sensor must be located about 180 degrees from valve, and cutout in strap must align with valve stem. Install strap into clamp, and tighten sensor clamp screw to 60 INCH lbs. (6.8 N.m).
  2. Install tire onto wheel. See Figure. Install valve core and inflate to pressure specified on tire placard at rear of driver's door. Check the locating rings of the tire to be sure they show evenly around the rim flanges on both sides of the wheel. See Fig 2.
  3. Balance tire and wheel assembly. Install tire and wheel assembly onto vehicle.
