Removal Procedure

- Remove the exhaust manifold pipe, if necessary. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement (6.0, 6.6, and 8.1L Engines) .
- Remove the catalytic converter, if necessary. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (4.3L, 4.8L, and 5.3L Engines) or Catalytic Converter Replacement (6.0L and 8.1L Engines) .
- Remove the exhaust front heat shield nuts.
- Remove the exhaust front heat shield from the studs.
- If vehicle is a regular cab pick-up truck, remove the exhaust heat shield nuts.
- Remove the exhaust front heat shield (1) and/or the exhaust heat shield (2) from the studs.
- If vehicle is a extended cab pick-up truck, remove the exhaust heat shield nuts.
- Remove the exhaust heat shield (1, 2) from the studs.
- If vehicle is a crew cab pick-up truck, remove the exhaust heat shield nuts.
- Remove the exhaust heat shields from the studs.
