Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Aztek and 2003 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Important: The strap that secures the coolant heater cord to the diagonal brace is reusable. Do NOT cut this strap in order to remove it.

Press the coolant heater strap retainer tab in order to remove coolant heater cord strap.
Use wire cutters in order to remove the remaining coolant heater cord straps from the engine wiring harness.
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE in General Information.

Use wire cutters in order to remove the 3 coolant heater cord lower straps (1) from the engine wiring harness.
Remove the right front wheel. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION in Tires and Wheels.
Remove the right engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT - ENGINE in Body Front End.

Remove the engine coolant heater cord from the engine coolant heater.
Remove the engine coolant heater cord.
