Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the intermediate shaft seal ring (1) from the intermediate shaft.

  2. Remove the following components from the rear planetary ring gear flange on the intermediate shaft:
    • The rear planetary ring gear snap ring (2)
    • The rear planetary ring gear
  3. Clean all the intermediate shaft and countershaft drive gear components and dry thoroughly.

  4. Inspect the following components for excessive wear or damage and replace as necessary:
    • The intermediate shaft
    • The rear planetary ring gear flange
    • The countershaft drive gear
  5. Inspect the countershaft drive gear inner and outer bearings for excessive wear or damage. Replace the countershaft drive gear inner bearing and the countershaft drive gear as necessary.
