Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Yukon XL, 2003 GMC Yukon, 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Important: Make sure the O-ring is seated in the O-ring groove.
- Install the O-ring seal (1) to the steering gear.
- Install the steering gear motor (2) to the vehicle.NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
- Install the bolts (1) retaining the steering gear motor (2) to the steering gear.
Tighten
Tighten the 6 mm (0.24 in) steering gear motor retaining bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
Tighten
Tighten the 4 mm (0.16 in) steering gear motor retaining bolts to 4 N.m (35 lb in).
Important: Route the wiring harness in the same location as the wiring was removed.
- Connect the electrical connectors to the control module (2).
- Connect the electrical connector (1) to the rear position sensor.
- Connect the wire harness retaining clips.
- Install the spare tire to the vehicle.
- Lower the vehicle.
