Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2002 GMC Envoy XL, 2002 GMC Envoy, and 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE in General Information.
  2. Remove the fuel tank shield. Refer to Fuel Tank Shield Replacement (Trailblazer, Envoy)  or Fuel Tank Shield Replacement (Trailblazer EXT, Envoy XL) .
  3. If vehicle is a short wheel base (Trailblazer, Envoy, Bravada), remove the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister from its mounting bracket. Do not disconnect the canister lines. Refer to EVAP CANISTER in Engine Controls.
  4. Support the transmission with a transmission jack.

  6. Remove the transmission mount to the transmission support retaining nuts.

  8. Remove the lower transmission support to the frame mounting bolts.

  10. Remove the upper transmission support to the frame mounting bolts.
  11. Remove the transmission support from the frame.
