Description and Operation: Definitions

The following definitions are provided to establish a common language and assist users in describing transaxle related conditions.

Clutch Shudder: A repeated jerking sensation caused by slipping and grabbing of the clutch disc while releasing the clutch, causing the vehicle to launch.
High Pedal Effort: An unusual amount of force is required to apply the clutch pedal.
Pedal Vibration: A vibration that is transmitted through the clutch pedal.
Spongy Clutch: Spongy feel when applying the clutch, usually an indication of air in the hydraulic clutch system.
Squeaky Clutch: A squeak is generated while applying or releasing the clutch pedal.
Inoperative Clutch: A non-functional clutch.
High Engagement Point: Long clutch pedal travel during pedal release, before the clutch disc engages with the engine.
