Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: When a lift gate hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.
  1. Open the lift gate and support.
  2. Remove the upper rear garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Rear Upper .
  3. Mark the location of the lift gate hinges with a grease pencil.
  4. Remove the lift gate struts. Refer to Strut Replacement - Liftgate 
  5. Remove the hinge to lift gate bolts.
  6. Remove the hinge to body nuts.
  7. Remove the hinges.
