Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the spare tire carrier. Refer to TIRE HOIST AND SHAFT REPLACEMENT in Tires and Wheels.
  2. Remove the rear fascia. Refer to Fascia Replacement - Rear Bumper .
  3. Fig 1: Disconnecting Trailer/Towing Receptacle Electrical Connector

  4. Disconnect the trailer/towing receptacle electrical connector.
  5. Rotate the trailer/towing receptacle assembly counterclockwise and remove from the vehicle.

  7. Remove the 4 rearward bolts that retain the impact bar assembly to the frame rails.
  8. While an assistant holds the impact bar (1) assembly in place, remove the remaining 2 retaining bolts.
  9. Remove the impact bar (1) assembly from the vehicle with an assistant.
