Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the rubber height adjustment bumpers.
  2. Position the rear compartment lid hinges to the marks on the rear compartment lid with an assistant.
  3. Install the nuts to the rear compartment lid hinges.

    Do not torque the nuts until after the lid has been aligned.

    IMPORTANT: When installing a new compartment lid, use mechanics wire to pull the wiring harness into position.
  4. Install the rear compartment lid wiring harness from the rear compartment lid.
  5. Connect the electrical connectors to the electrical components on the rear compartment lid.
  6. Install the rear compartment lid latch. Refer to Latch Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid .
  7. Install the rear spoiler, if equipped. Refer to Spoiler Replacement - Rear (Without RPO B4U Special Edition)  or Spoiler Replacement - Rear (With RPO B4U Special Edition) .

  8. Remove the protective coverings.
  9. Adjust the rear compartment lid if required. Using an Allen wrench, adjust the height adjustment bumper at front of the hinge.
  10. Adjust the rear compartment lid if required, for uniform fit.
  11. Adjust the rear compartment height by turning the black rubber bumpers by hand.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  12. Tighten the nuts to the rear compartment hinges.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the rear compartment lid hinge nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  13. Close the rear compartment.
