Tire Pressure Monitoring Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - IMPALA & MONTE CARLO article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, attempt to establish communications with Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). If communication is established with EBCM, go to next step. If communication cannot be established, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - IMPALA & MONTE CARLO article.
  3. Select DRP/ABS/TCS/TIM/VSES display DTC function on scan tool. If scan tool displays any DTCs except C1245, go to appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES. If scan tool displays DTC C1245, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  . If scan tool does not display any DTCs, perform appropriate procedure. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
