Door System Diagnostic System Check

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 2002 Chevrolet Impala, 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, and 2001 Chevrolet Impala. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Use this check as starting point for any door system complaint.
  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - IMPALA & MONTE CARLO article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, attempt to establish communications with Body Control Module (BCM). If communication is established, go to next step. If communication cannot be established, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - IMPALA & MONTE CARLO article.
  3. Select BODY CONTROL MODULE DTCS function on scan tool. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, perform appropriate procedure. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
  4. Using scan tool, check for DTCs U1000-U1305. If DTCs are not present, go to next step. If DTCs are present, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - IMPALA & MONTE CARLO article.
  5. Check for DTC B1000. If DTC is not present, go to next step. If DTC B1000 is present, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - IMPALA & MONTE CARLO article.
  6. Check for DTCs B1339 or B1349. If DTCs are not present, go to next step. If any DTC is present, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - IMPALA & MONTE CARLO article.
  7. Check for DTCs beginning with a "P". If DTCs beginning with a "P" are not present, go to next step. If DTCs beginning with a "P" are present, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - IMPALA & MONTE CARLO article.
  8. Check for DTCs B3069, B3127, B3128, B3132, B3133, B3137, B3138 or B3272. If DTCs are not present, perform appropriate procedure. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS. If any DTC is present, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  .
