DTC B2823: Trip Odometer Reset Switch Circuit Low: Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 2002 Chevrolet Impala, 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, and 2001 Chevrolet Impala. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) contains a momentary switch that controls trip odometer reset and trip season display options. IPC monitors circuit voltage levels and detects when trip odometer reset switch has been depressed. DTC B2823 is set when IPC detects that trip reset switch input is low (grounded) for more than 60 seconds.

When DTC B2823 is set, IPC will disable (ignore) trip reset switch. DTC B2823 will clear and become a history DTC when IPC no longer detects a failure. History DTC B2823 will clear after 100 fault free ignition cycles. DTC B2823 will also clear when IPC receives a clear code command from scan tool.
