DTC B0162: Temperature Sensor Circuit Open: Testing

- Perform driver information center system diagnostic system check. See DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If driver information center system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Observe DIC display in overhead console display. If DIC displays OC, go to next step. If OC is not displayed, problem is intermittent. Check for poor harness connections. See DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS . Repair or replace as necessary. After repair, go to step 10 .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect ambient air temperature sensor harness connector. Ambient air temperature sensor is located on front radiator air baffle. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between ground and ambient air temperature sensor harness connector terminal "A" (Light Green/Black wire). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If DIC does not display SC, go to next step. If DIC displays SC, go to step 5 .
- Disconnect DIC Black 9-pin connector C1. See DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER (DIC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check for open, high resistance or short to voltage in Light Green/Black wire between ambient air temperature sensor harness connector terminal "A" and DIC Black 9-pin harness connector C1 terminal No. 10. Repair as necessary and go to step 10 . If wire is okay, go to step 7 .
- Check for high resistance or open in Black/White wire between ambient air temperature sensor harness connector terminal "B" and ground connector G203. See Fig 1 . Repair as necessary and go to 10 . If wire is okay, go to next step.
- Check for poor connection at ambient air temperature sensor harness connector. Repair as necessary and go to step 10 . If connection is okay, go to step 8 .
- Check for poor connection at DIC Black 9-pin harness connector C1. Repair as necessary and go to step 10 . If connection is okay, go to step 9 .
- Replace ambient air temperature sensor and go to step 10 .
- Replace DIC and calibrate compass. See DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER (DIC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step.
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle within CODE ENABLE CRITERIA conditions. Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If DTC B0162 resets, return to step 2 . If DTC B0162 does not reset, system is okay.
