WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 2002 Chevrolet Impala, 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, and 2001 Chevrolet Impala. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Perform driver information center system diagnostic system check. See DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If driver information center system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Observe DIC display in overhead console. If DIC displays SC, go to next step. If SC is not displayed, problem is intermittent. Check for poor harness connections. See DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS . Repair or replace as necessary. After repair, go to step 9 .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect ambient air temperature sensor connector. Ambient air temperature sensor is located on front radiator air baffle. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If DIC does not display OC, go to next step. If DIC displays OC, go to step 5 .
- Disconnect DIC Black 9-pin connector C1. Check for short to ground in Light Green/Black wire between ambient air temperature sensor harness connector terminal "A" and DIC Black 9-pin harness connector C1 terminal No. 10. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary and go to step 9 . If wire is okay, go to step 6 .
- Check for poor connection at ambient air temperature sensor harness connector. Repair as necessary and go to step 9 . If connector is okay, go to step 7 .
- Check for poor connection at DIC Black 9-pin harness connector C1. Repair as necessary and go to step 9 . If connector is okay, go to step 8 .
- Replace ambient air temperature sensor and go to step 9
- Replace DIC and calibrate compass. See DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER (DIC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step.
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle within CODE ENABLE CRITERIA conditions. Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If DTC B0160 resets, return to step 2 . If DTC B0160 does not reset, system is okay.
