Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Buick Regal and 2003 Buick Century. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Position the window to the full up position.
  2. Remove the trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - SIDE REAR DOOR  .
  3. Remove the water deflector. Refer to WATER DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR  .
    CAUTION: Standard shop practices, particularly eye protection, should be followed during these operations to avoid personal injury.
    IMPORTANT: Support the back side of the rivet while driving the mandrel out to avoid bending the metal.
  4. Use a center punch to remove the rivet mandrel (2).

  6. Drill out the rivet using a 6.35 mm (1/4 in) drill bit.
  7. Open the handle clip and remove the lock rod from the handle.
  8. Open the handle clip and remove the handle rod from the handle.
  9. Remove the handle from the inner panel.
