Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Buick Regal and 2003 Buick Century. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Route the SIR connector through the steering wheel.
  2. Align the scribe mark on the steering wheel with the slash mark on the steering shaft.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the steering shaft nut.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).

  4. Install the Inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to REMOVAL & INSTALLATION (DRIVER-SIDE) in Air Bag Restraint Systems.
  5. Enable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in Air Bag Restraint Systems.
  6. Inspect the operation of the following components:
    • The horn
    • The steering wheel
    • The steering wheel controls
