Removal Procedure

- Recover the refrigerant. Refer to REFRIGERANT RECOVERY AND RECHARGING .
- Release the drive belt tension by lifting or rotating the drive belt tensioner with a breaker bar.
- Remove the drive belt from the A/C compressor pulley and position the drive belt aside.
- Slowly release the tension from the drive belt tensioner and remove the breaker bar.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to JACKING AND LIFTING THE VEHICLE in General Information.
- Remove the lower air deflector. Refer to RADIATOR AIR BAFFLE AND DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT - LOWER in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the right side engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT -- ENGINE in Body Front End.
- Remove the A/C compressor hose bolt.
- Disconnect the A/C compressor hose bolt.
- Disconnect the A/C compressor hose from the A/C compressor.
- Remove and discard the sealing washers.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C compressor.
- Remove the lower A/C compressor mounting bolts.
- Remove the upper A/C compressor mounting bolts.
- Remove the A/C compressor.IMPORTANT: Replacement compressors are shipped without PAG oil
- If replacing the compressor, balance the compressor oil. Refer to COMPRESSOR OIL BALANCING .
